Homework will consist of activities that help reinforce classroom curriculum and promote the family connection! Homework promotes responsibility, time management, accountability, independence, and reinforcement! Always remember homework should be fun and engaging. Do not push, let it happen naturally! :-)
Begin by helping your child establish a consistent homework routine, including a designated area ready with materials and supplies!
Here are a few great easy routines to try...
~ Empty folder into a designated area every night
~ Pack & unpack backpacks independently!
~ Practice zipping, buttoning, & tying
~ Practice cutting and drawing
~ Play games - games help reinforce rules, winning and losing, taking turns, & patience ~ ~ ~ Help out with common tasks.... - count how many forks are out for dinner - write down items for a grocery list - sort objects such as laundry, groceries, & toys
~ Play and explore outside! :-)
~ Reading 10 - 25 minutes every night! Help reinforce comprehension by asking questions or discuss the book before, during, and after reading. Leveled readers can practice fluency and expression by reading and rereading books aloud to family! Beginner readers can practice pointing word to word in predictable, rhythmic text, as well as familiar text!
